Recycling is only as good as the people who participate... Retex Northwest would like to invite you to join the battle against waste as well as improving the standard of living for people in poor countries. It’s easy to do! Just start recycling your old cloths instead of throwing them out. In 1998 we began working with solid waste managers in the Northwest to put an end to the steady stream of clothing and textiles flowing into landfills. Textile recycling removes 2.5 billion pounds of post-consumer textiles in the United States solid waste stream each year. That is material that provides clothing as well as jobs to millions of people each year. Many recycled textiles are sold overseas, aiding the US balance of trade, as well as providing clothing and creating jobs in impoverished countries. By supporting a textile recycling program local business and multifamily housing owners and managers can let their communities know they care about keeping our environment green and believe in helping others.
